Pair of rare neoclassical candlesticks, Esajas Carl Hoffman (active 1781 to 1813), Berlin, circa 1800
Silberlegierung (Mindestfeingehalt 12 Lot), nicht gefüllt; Gesamtgewicht: ca. 548 g; Paar seltene Leuchter mit gekantetem Konusschaft auf Trompetenstand mit Akanthusblattdekor auf quadratischer Plinthe, eingezogener Nodus, glockenförmig eingezogenes Ornamentalelement zwischen Schaft und Tülle, abnehmbare Tülle mit Tremulierstrich und preußischem Repunzierungsstempel versehen; beide Leuchter seitlich am Stand mit Berliner Stadtmarke mit verschlagenem Buchstaben (s. Abbildung), preußischem Repunzierungsstempel „FW“, Meistermarke „ECH“ und Tremulierstrich versehen; Höhe: ca. 23,3 cm; altersbedingte Gebrauchsspuren, Oxidationsrückstände sowie Kerben und ein Riss an einem Nodus.
Silver alloy (minimum fineness 12 lot, approx. 750/1000), not filled; total weight: approx. 548 g; pair of rare candlesticks with facetted conical shaft on trumpet base with acanthus leaf decoration on a square plinth, recessed knop, bell-shaped recessed ornamental element between shaft and nozzle, removable nozzle with tremolier mark and Prussian repunching mark; both candlesticks laterally on the base with Berlin town mark with obliterated letter (see illustration), Prussian repunching mark “FW,” maker’s mark “ECH” and tremolier mark; height: approx. 23,3 cm; age-related signs of wear, oxidation residues as well as dents and a crack to one knop.
585/- yellow gold; total weight: approx. 8 g; flattened spherical form with concave centre, polished inner wall and bezel setting holding a round faceted citrine; diameter: approx. 10.5 mm; high outer rim with satin-finished surface décor divided by eight polished narrow ribs; arched shoulder and plain shank; total diameter of ring head: approx. 18.3 mm; height: approx. 10.4 mm; ring size: 56.
750/- yellow gold and silver; total weight: approx. 7.5 g; high stepped ring head; centrally set rectangular faceted aquamarine of light blue colour variety with visible jardin; dimensions: approx. 13 x 11 x 7 mm; sides of the setting with four-tiered, tapering lines, each side set with 5, 4, 3 and 2 diamonds; both shoulders adorned with two stylised diamond-set leaves; minor signs of wear and a small chip on the aquamarine as well as a loss on the setting edge of approx. 1.8 mm; dimensions of ring head: approx. 13.6 x 20.8 mm; height: approx. 7.9 mm; ring size: 53.5.
750/- white gold; total weight: approx. 16.4 g; stylised raised triangular form with openwork ornamental décor and applied settings; central rose-cut diamond, approx. 0.6 ct; colour: H; clarity: VVSI-VSI; 107 diamonds totalling approx. 2.9 ct, partly old-cut and melee stones; colour in the medium to lower range; clarity in the upper to medium range; some stones probably foil-backed; suspended at the lower end, a champagne-coloured Akoya pearl with silvery-grey lustre; pin fitting and suspension loop on reverse; minor facet edge nicks; total length: approx. 47 mm; width: approx. 35.1 mm.
