Sterling silver; total weight: approx. 688 g; handled bowl with bulging oval body, centrally applied profiled handle and encircling pierced ornamental decoration, standing on an oval, flared foot with vertically pierced decoration; foot probably added at a later date, underside stamped with maker’s mark, Sheffield designation and model number; handle mount and outer rim stamped with lion passant, Chester town mark, maker’s mark and an unassigned date letter, probably 1731; age-related signs of wear and deformation to the handle; dimensions: approx. 11.4 x 30 x 22.5 cm.
