Antique silver helmet jug, Augsburg, Germany, 1765-67

Silberlegierung; Gewicht: ca. 408 g; Helmkanne auf rundem, fassoniertem Standfuß, Nodus, birnenförmigem Korpus mit geschweift godronierter Wandung, breitem Ausguss und hoch angesetztem Volutenhenkel; auf der Schauseite mittig graviertes Monogramm „MS“ mit Krone; am oberen Rand gestempelt mit Augsburger Stadtmarke (Pyr und Buchstaben R) und ungedeuteter Meistermarke; altersbedingte Gebrauchsspuren und Oxidationsrückstände; Höhe: ca. 22,5 cm.

Silver alloy; weight: approx. 408 g; helmet jug on a round, moulded base with nodus, pear-shaped body with curved gadrooned wall, broad spout and high-set volute handle; centrally engraved monogram “MS” with crown to the front; stamped to the upper rim with Augsburg town mark (pine cone and letter R) and an unidentified maker’s mark; age-related signs of wear and oxidation residues; height: approx. 22.5 cm.
